Divadlo ABC vychází z vlastních bohatých tradic Osvobozeného divadla, ke spojení s Divadlem Rokoko, bývalým Kabaretem Rokoko, došlo v šedesátých letech. Tehdy vznikla Městská divadla pražská.
Rozsáhlý tvůrčí a herecký potenciál divadel se vždy soustředil na co nejširší divácké vrstvy, Městská divadla uváděla komedie, detektivky, ale i muzikály a balet.

Filosofií současných spojených divadel ABC a Rokoko je propojení divadelní scény s běžným pražským životem. Divadlo, které je obvyklým místem setkávání lidí a přitom si zachovává kulturní standart, je nositelem společenské etikety. Z tohoto pohledu je "manuál návštěvníka", vlastně návod, jak se do divadla obléci a jak se v něm chovat, uvedený na webu Městských divadel pražských, sympatickým a užitečným počinem. Přece jen zásady Guta-Jarkovského z našeho povědomí mizí rychleji, než si připouštíme.
