Kino vzniklo v budově bývalého Lucernafilmu na Národní třídě v roce 1997. Činnost zahájilo v roce 1997 přehlídkou filmů Evalda Schorma.

Cílem zakladatele Jana Jíry bylo vytvořit „filmové Rudolfinum“ – malé, pěkné, moderní kino, kde se uvádějí hezké filmy, kde je možné také po filmu v restauraci posedět s přáteli…

Podařilo se? Zřejmě ano, kino je živé, zapojuje se do mezinárodních projektů, uvádí filmy z ne tak známých festivalů, také promítá filmy pro seniory za zvýhodněné vstupné - hezká myšlenka.
