Pražský hrad byl založen již kolem roku 880 knížetem Bořivojem z rodu Přemyslovců. Dle zápisu v Guinessově knize rekordů je Pražský hrad největším souvislým hradním komplexem na světě. Hrad se rozkládá se na ploše téměř 70 000 m² a je rovněž uveden v Seznamu světového kulturního a přírodního dědictví UNESCO.

Pražský hrad je tvořen rozsáhlým souborem paláců a církevních staveb vybudovaných v různých architektonických slozích - od románských staveb z 10. století přes gotické úpravy 14. století. Také jsou zde patrny zásahy známého slovinského architekta Josipa Plečnika v období 1. republiky až po nejnovější úpravy z konce XX. století.
